Nannies
We can only accept applications from experienced and/or qualified nannies.
You will need either a serious training course qualification and one year of full-time childcare experience, or a minimum of two years full-time childcare experience.
A suitable qualification would include:-
- Diploma in Childcare & Education (NNEB)
- BTEC in Child Studies/Nursery Nursing
- CACHE Certificate in Childcare & Education
- GNVQ Level 2 or above in Early Years Childcare & Education
- Advanced Diploma in Childcare & Education
- Diploma from The Norland Nanny College
- The Princess Christian College
- The Chiltern Nursery Training College
- Montessori Teaching & Childcare Diploma
You will also need an up to date Enhanced CRB Police Check. If you do not possess a CRB we will be happy to obtain one for you (£43.50 including admin fee).
An up to date Paediatric First-Aid qualification.
Positive references from previous, relevant employers.
We personally interview all of our Nannies and take great care to make you feel welcome and valued, and communicate regularly, to keep you informed of what's happening.

As a guide, Live-out Nannies usually work approx 10 hours a day, Mon – Fri. Care of the children is usually on a sole-charge basis and babysitting duties is not normally required. If babysitting is required it is normally paid extra and agreed in advance. Responsibilities of a Live-out Nanny usually include duties such as playing, educating, socializing as well as doing the children’s’ washing, clearing toys away, cooking and reporting back to the parents. |
As a guide, Live-in Nannies normally work approx 11-12 hours a day, Mon – Fri with 1-2 days babysitting included. They will usually have sole-charge of the children, however some shared care may also be required when one or both of the parents are at home. Responsibilities of a Live-in Nanny usually include duties such as playing, educating, socializing as well as doing the children’s’ washing, clearing toys away, cooking and reporting back to the parents. You should not be expected to perform housework for the rest of the family as you are principally employed as a child carer. However you may consent to a small amount of housework and this should be clearly defined in your Contract of Employment. The family may require a Nanny/Housekeeper if housework is a main requirement of the position – so be aware of these issues at the time of the interview. |
Mother’s Help positions are usually suitable for younger, inexperienced and/or recently qualified candidates, looking to develop their experience before becoming a Nanny. The key difference between a Mother’s Help and a Nanny is that you will not yet have sufficient experience to be given constant sole-charge of the children. You would usually work alongside the mother (or father) and work as an extra pair of hands. You may be required to perform light household duties e.g. shopping, driving etc. and these would be agreed with you in advance. You should not be required to do all the household chores such as cleaning and washing as you are principally employed in a childcare role. |
